Series 60 (Symbian)

Symbian is our main platform for development, Symbian has the advantage of huge penetration of the smartphone market (55% Q2 2006). Such a big penetration means that no serious mobile developer can disregard Symbian.

 

Symbian offers an extensive C++ API which allows the developer access to almost every capability of the device, whether it is taking a picture, calling a number or recording audio. With Series 60 extends this API to Nokia-specific APIs. These are all well documented on Nokia's large online community, forum.nokia.com. The site features both information released by Nokia as well as a discussion board in which developers cooperate in solving each others problems.
