Application and Implementation of Network Coding for Cooperative Wireless Networks
Cooperation among mobile devices can help to overcome the current dominant problems in mobile communication such as; spectrum usage and energy consumption. In addition network coding combined with cooperative networking is a promising tool for increasing the level of; robustness, security and data rate for communication between mobile devices. So far benefits of network coding have been shown theoretically but the proposed project will tailor and extended existing solutions to implement network coding on a large set of mobile devices and thereby substantiate theoretical results for network coding with respect to spectrum usage and energy consumption. An existing collaboration between Aalborg University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will be prolonged to become the world leader in the field of network coding.
