Abstract
Prior projects have started to investigate the potential of cooperation among mobile devices in terms of higher data rates and lower energy consumption. In this project several aspects of cooperation using 802.11 are investigated. Additionally to improve the efficiency of the communication among the mobile devices, network coding seems to be a promising candidate. Within this area the focus is on practical network coding looking into aspects such as computational complexity and protocol design for cooperative communication scenarios.
