Software defined radio on a Mobile Platform
In developing and researching on embedded wireless systems the mobile phone is usually used as prototype and target platform. First of all because it is an embedded wireless device with its limited resources, secondly because there exist a large framework for developing on the phones.
So far the mobile device is characterized by a large degree of freedom and flexibility for applications and network protocols. When it comes the lower layers the flexibility stops and the access is prohibited from the manufacture, and limited due to the hardware setup of the device.
